That sounds like every 80's movie lol. The only thing that is even close I can think of (but I'm 90 percent sure it isn't it because he doesn't die his wife does) is Mad Max.

It is the Wraith with Charlie Sheen. Totally cheesy, but I love it! They race cars and he was killed by a local gang. He comes back and kills the gang off one by one by racing them in a "futuristic" car
